Trivia and In-Jokes
About the Story:
Here we have the next and final (for now) installment of AL’s Victory
chronology.
This story in its earliest form first existed as an RP between Ben
and me. This was long before I decided to include Voyager’s EMH. The
basic storyline hasn’t changed, much, save for the aforementioned hologram. A
portion of story came from said RP. In the RP, it was Goldy who talked AL out of
her mental coma. With the addition of the EMH, I changed it to him.
Kinsellan flits are the property of
Jessica
Dragontamer, and you may
still be able to contact her for one of your own.
By the way, don’t ask me how Medicus turned the unborn Akili so he
could be delivered properly. He has telekinetic powers, so let’s leave it at
that. ^^
The reason Golden Mun and Rising Fog aren’t being referred to as
Goldy and Jamie, respectively, is because only AL’s allowed to call them by the
nicknames and the story isn’t really set in her point of view to allow for that.
Chapter One:
The Victory being in less state to travel than the Enterprise-B:
The Enterprise-B was featured in Star Trek Generations. I was
going to do the whole “won’t arrive ’til Tuesday” thing that happened in the
movie, but didn’t get around to it.
Chapter Two:
“That sounds familiar”: The Doc is referring to my short story,
Comfort.
Chapter Three:
The oxygen
jelly:
This was from a Star Wars book, book 2 of the Jedi Academy Trilogy,
called Dark Apprentice.
Crying so much it puts her into shock: As much as I hate to admit it, this happened to me in real life. After my grandfather died, one night, I cried so hard I deprived my body of oxygen and my extremities went numb. Freaked out my husband pretty badly. ^^;
The hologram of Lisa: Also in Comfort.
Chapter Four:
Akili: This whole idea of a Force-using unicorn (affectionately
nicknamed Jedicorn) is Ben’s. Everything about him speaking from birth and all
that stuff is embellished from info he’s told me.
Lisa previously being with a Jedi: That would be Luke Skywalker. She nearly had a breakdown at his death, too.
Chapter Six:
Ready to Make History: A line from Star Trek: First Contact,
spoken by Zefram Cochrane, creator of warp drive.
The stuff about the holodeck: Did you ever notice, in the later Star Treks when they had to use a holodeck, they more often than not said a number other than “One”? I joked that this was because AL was always using Holodeck One. This is why the Victory’s Holodeck One is across from her quarters.
