Trivia and In-Jokes

About the Story:
It all started August 9, 2007 according to my LJ. I’d wanted to write a new Doctor Who story and I had two ideas. One was writing out the game “Destiny of the Doctors” as a story with the addition of AL (which, actually, I am writing as well) and this one, the sequel to “The Sirens of Time”.
I rewrote the first one-and-a-half chapters so many times it wasn’t funny. The biggest problem was that, when I wasn’t at home, I had no access to the episodes I was having the Doctor, the Temperon and AL drop in on, so I had no way of using video footage to see where I could drop them, so I just kept writing and rewriting the story up until they encounter the Seventh Doctor and Ace. Then I realized I had the novels to most of the episodes I was using, so I just started bringing them with me. I’ll specify what episodes I used when I get to those chapters below.

Chapter One:
Donna/“Find someone…you need someone to stop you”/the Racnoss/the drained Thames: All were in the 2006 Christmas special “The Runaway Bride”.

The Temperon’s description/“Is that a Chronovore?”: The Temperon was never described in “The Sirens of Time” (it being an audio), though it was mentioned he was a close cousin to the Chronovores. A Chronovore named Kronos first appeared in the 1972 Third Doctor episode “The Time Monster”. Kronos was depicted as white bird-like humanoid creature with a helmeted head and wings on its arms (that’s 70s special effects for you). As the Temperon is supposed to be a close cousin, I based his description off of Kronos’, albeit slightly altered, as cousins don’t look alike (unless you count me and my cousin Kaitlin, but that’s beside the point).

A cosmos without the Doctor scarcely bears thinking about: This line was spoken by the Master in “The Five Doctors”.

Chapter Two:
“One must change with the times”: I know that this line came from a Doctor Who episode, but I can’t remember which one at the moment.

“Earth…Windsor…1988”: “Silver Nemesis”.

I must absorb them as I once did to you.: This happened to the Sixth Doctor in “The Sirens of Time”.

Helen, Elenya and Ellie: The three of four women the Sirens posed as in “The Sirens of Time”.

You must not succeed!: The Temperon’s line from “The Sirens of Time”.
