Trivia and In-Jokes
About the Story:
This story went through a couple of
different variations. I started writing it after finding out that Data was going
to die at the end of Star Trek Nemesis, which upset me greatly. This
final version is a mixture of the movie and the book. In a nutshell, I didn’t
want Data to die, so I needed some kind of way to ensure that Nemesis
never took place. What came to me was, basically, a cop-out, but it worked: A
nightmare. It stands as is. Kinsellan flits are the creation of
Jessica
Dragontamer and you may be able to still contact her for one of your own.
Story:
Amargosa Observatory:
This is a reference to Star Trek Generations, where Data first got his
emotion chip. When he and Geordi were attacked by Dr. Soren, Data experienced
intense and crippling fear of being hurt. Hence why, here, he doesn’t want to
die. Plus, if he did, he’d leave AL alone, and that’s not something one wants to
do.
