Trivia and In-Jokes

About the Story:
Immediately after the first story, here we have the second. I’m still not naming the individual tales. No way.

Chapter One:
The hum of hyperspace was soothing in a way: Who hasn’t fallen asleep as a passenger?

Chapter Two:
Lisa was tapping: Stimming. She’s stimming.

Chapter Three:
“Made a friend?” “Two”: Kind of a reference to the pilot episode of Ghostwriter from the 90s, when Lenni tells her dad she made two friends at Jamal’s house. I was watching the new series on AppleTV+ at the time of writing.

“Hello,”: Speaking to an excitable bird is just like speaking to two new droids that were supposed to start working on your uncle’s moisture farm.

tapping a foot twice on Lisa’s shoulder: A reference to James Ortiz and the Rockyteers tapping one of Rocky’s legs twice whenever he asked a question in the Project Hail Mary movie.

Chapter Four:
Big rocks parted the silty water in places; they looked as if they were positioned in a way that would be good for balance practice – same with that one thick tree branch jutting out over the water if a student was small and light enough.: The river is the one Grogu trained on in The Book of Boba Fett.

Chapter Five:
Most humans never bothered to see animals as anything beyond instinct and noise. Luke had learned otherwise five years ago with the scurriers on Tatooine.: This is in reference to when Luke and AL first met. That fic needs rewriting.

Riverbacks: They’re ten-foot-tall capybara.

Chapter Six:
The three of them entered the bamboo forest, reaching a small clearing after a few minutes. The trees were spaced out further here and the ground was brown from the lack of grass… They kept walking and found a hillside where Luke, again, sensed the “something” through the Force. It overlooked the river and had a spectacular view of the mountains.: More areas from Book of Boba Fett.

Chapter Seven:
The layout of the Academy: Taken from Book of Boba Fett but I embellished what buildings did what.

Chapter Eight:
Foraging and finding clean water: I was listening to Citadel by CM Alongi on Audible and Olivia had to find food and clean water while in the Flooded Forest.

“Nuh-uh, you can go by yourself,” said Pip: “Oh no, boss, no, you go yourself!” from Pete’s Dragon.

Pip splashed around in the shallows while they walked along the water’s edge.: As Rocky splashed around in the water in Grace’s biome at the end of the Project Hail Mary movie.

Laketreaders: They’re giant giant salamanders. But I literally can’t remember which one I used as inspiration.

“Do you swim?”: Kida asking Milo “You do swim, do you not?” in Atlantis.

Chapter Nine:
food and sleep: What we used to say when we’d make the drive from North Carolina to New Jersey.
