Chapter Two
Wherever he was, it was beautiful. Lush bamboo forests, rippling rivers, vast mountains, clear lakes. Insects buzzed in the warm air, and the calls of various animals echoed through the area. In the distance, a bird squawked.
Luke walked along a grassy hill, feeling peaceful and at ease. The Force was strong here. He ran his hand over some brightly colored flowers that were as tall as his waist, disturbing some small flying insects. Rather than be perturbed, however, they buzzed gently around his arm and then flew away. Smiling, he walked further.
One-eyed frogs hopped over rocks and into a stream. Small scurrying creatures skittered underfoot. Lisa would love this, he thought, and warmth enveloped him. She was somewhere nearby. Though he couldn’t see her yet, he could sense her, and he was so content that that was enough while he explored.
Down in a valley, he saw a shimmering image of stone structures, like a mirage. Running around the buildings were people, their faces blurred, but Luke could hear children giggling and the sounds of play. He could sense the Force was strong among these people, and they were happy.
As he watched, he saw a group lifting rocks just as he had on Dagobah. Another group was dodging low energy bolts from a training remote. One small blur sat on a boulder, nose buried in some kind of reading material.
This is a place for learning, he thought, realizing. For young people who are strong with the Force to learn and train.
For a reason Luke could not fathom, he suddenly felt a sense of pride, as if…
As if these were his students.
Luke looked around again in wonder. Was this true? “Pass on what you have learned,” Yoda had told him before becoming one with the Force.
But the old ways… he thought. He couldn’t teach the old ways – the ways that said attachment was dangerous. He and Lisa proved that it wasn’t, not when each party knew how to be an asset, not a liability. Even Obi-Wan and Yoda had admitted that his relationship made him stronger, not weaker.
No. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it his way. With Lisa’s help. He could teach the aspects of the Force. She could teach how to love a Jedi.
