Trivia and In-Jokes
About the Story:
I dunno. I just had this idea that V’s Docs talk to Erik to try to help him
deal with thinking of himself as an outcast (though I’ll admit the story kind of
veered a little towards the end…that’s what I get for writing at 2am). And I
think this takes the place as shortest story. For those unfamiliar with Gerard
Butler’s portrayal of the Phantom from the movie, here are two images of the
so-called deformity:
from the front
and from the
side. The reason AL’s not referred to as such in the first chapter is
because it’s in Erik’s POV in a way, so he (and the other guys unless in the
presence of us both) just calls her Lisa.
Chapter One:
It was a dark and stormy night: I’d originally stared this story on a
dark and stormy Sunday.
Strange with spiraled ears…pale one with gold eyes: Radu and Data, respectively.
Erik’s memories: He has memories of my story, Return of an Old Friend and beyond.
Except for that once when they convinced him to sing to Lisa for her birthday: The guys convinced him to sing for AL’s birthday in 2005.
The war from Space Cases: Came from SpaceCasesTV.com.
Stephen Hawking: Yes, AL does know him.
The shows about people with deformities: The ones often shown on Discovery Health such as Medical Incredible and Mystery Diagnosis.
Chapter Two:
The name-dropped unicorns:
Medicus
the Healer,
Blind Spot who’d been born blind and the first Alnilam unicorn born with a
disability, Ulan who happens to have insect-like wings and half an ear missing
due to something that happened to her and her twin sister
Banji
before coming to Alnilam and Scar who just randomly popped into my head one day
missing half a horn and with a big scar on his nose.
“Well, currently it’s less about control and more about the weather responding to my emotional state”: An almost direct copy of what V told me about it.
Tempest and Mistral: A father-daughter team who, as stated, can control the weather. Mistral is often blamed for weird weather patterns.
