Chapter Five: Party Hearty
After everyone had stuffed themselves, Jamie and Adam went to get the cakes while AL, Jack, Jesse, Data and Tommy blindfolded Luke, TrilogyDoc, TeenDoc, Clara and Marty.
“Ready?” AL said once the guys had set the cakes down. “One, two…three!”
The blindfolds came off and they saw that TrilogyDoc and co.’s cake was in the shape of the Time Train and Luke’s was in the shape of his x-wing.
“Oh, wow!” said Marty.
“This is cake?” asked Clara.
“Yup,” said AL. “Duff and the rest of ’em hand-carved everything and added all the details. All from photos, I may add.”
“Incredible!” said TrilogyDoc. “The detail work is amazing.”
AL took pictures of the cakes, then broke out the knives and started slicing. Not only did the cakes look great, they were delicious, as well.
While everyone waited to digest, TeenDoc and Marty picked up the sabers again. AL even got in on the fun and brought out her old blaster, set to its lowest setting, of course.
Her aim was still pretty good, and, by the time it was getting dark outside, both Marty and TeenDoc were able to block a good portion of her shots. They both ended up having some red burn marks on their arms and legs, but a quick treatment from one of Medicus’ salves in AL’s medicine cabinet kept the redness to a minimum.
“That’s good,” said TeenDoc. “Vic would probably kill me if she saw that I came home all burned.”
“Yeah.” Luke agreed. “Then she’d kill me for letting you play with lightsabers.”
Everyone laughed. As the party wound down, Clark and Data started to clean everything up and AL printed out the pictures for TrilogyDoc and co. to bring home. Jack and Adam put some of the leftover food in Tupperware bins for them, too.
TrilogyDoc, TeenDoc, Clara and Marty bade everyone goodbye and thanked AL for inviting them.
“No problem,” she said. “Come back anytime.”
“Hang on…” said Luke, checking TeenDoc closely. He found one of the training sabers clipped to his belt.
“Aw, Luke!” he said.
“Sorry, kid. These have to go back to the Temple.”
TeenDoc pouted while TrilogyDoc, Clara and Marty gave their thanks again.
“Not a bad party,” said AL, collapsing onto the couch.
“We always have good parties,” said Adam, sitting on the recliner.
“Yeah. When’s the next one?” asked Jesse, plopping down onto the loveseat.
AL chuckled. “Well, my birthday’s in June. I really should keep track of yours’ better.”
“Yeah,” said Luke, lying on the couch with his head in AL’s lap. “It’s not fair that I’m the only birthday, other than Jack that one time, we celebrate.”
“True, true.” AL said, stroking his hair. She yawned. “Well, let’s clean up. We’ll need time to recover after this one.”
And so they did.
