Chapter Three: Party Like It’s 2099

A couple of hours later, after the electricity had been stabilized, everything was ready. Everyone had gathered outside where tables and chairs had been put out and a volleyball net had been set up. Music was playing through the outdoor speakers the Doctors had rigged up, the food was laid out on the tables and Clark and Jack were at the grill cooking ribs, hamburgers, hotdogs and chicken. TeenDoc, Marty, Adam, Jamie, Tommy and Jesse split into two teams of three for a game of volleyball, which Data was refereeing. Doctors Nine and Ten were getting food, Luke was nowhere to be seen and everyone else was sitting around, snapping pictures.

“Way to go having a double anniversary, guys,” said AL.

“So, why aren’t Han and Leia and Chewie and everyone else here?” Clark asked. He caught the dirty look AL was shooting him. “Well, I know why not Leia, but Han and Chewie…”

“Luke can go visit them later,” said AL. “For now, he’s spending his anniversary with us.”

“Where is he, anyway?” asked Jack.

“I’ve no idea. He said something about having to run to the Temple for something.”

“It is his party…” said Doc8.

“Technically,” said Doc5, “it’s his, plus Doctor and Mrs. Brown’s party.”

“Please, call me Clara,” the aforementioned teacher said.

“Hey,” Marty called over from the volleyball net, “what about me?”

“Yeah, you, too.” AL said. “It’s the thirtieth anniversary of Star Wars and seventeenth of Back to the Future Part III, hence why TrilogyDoc and Clara are here. Marty just comes along with the package.”

The teen raspberried her and bumped the ball. TeenDoc bumped it back, asking, “And what about me?”

“You,” TrilogyDoc said, “simply begged to come along and Lisa couldn’t resist you using the puppy eyes.”

TeenDoc simply grinned.

“I must say I am real impressed with your home, Lisa,” said Clara.

“Thanks,” she replied. “We’re all proud of it.”

Luke showed up then, jogging towards everyone. “I’m back.”

“Hey, hun,” AL said, kissing him. “Where’d you go?”

“I went to grab a couple of these.” He held up two lightsabers.

TeenDoc let the ball pass right by him as he leered at them. TrilogyDoc noticed and warned, “Don’t even think about it!”

“Don’t worry.” Luke said. “These are the training sabers. They’re set to low power. My Jedi Hopefuls use them for practice before they learn to build their own. I figured TeenDoc would like a chance to show his stuff.”

COOL!” TeenDoc proceeded to dash to Luke, almost knocking over Adam and Jamie on the way.

“Oy, watch it,” said Jamie.

Luke held the sabers up above his head as the teen tried to grab at them. It didn’t really work, as TeenDoc was a good foot taller than him, even as a teenager. “Hang on, there, Sparky.”

“Never a truer nickname…” quipped Clara.

“Chill out, will ya?” said AL.

“Come on, Luke!” begged TeenDoc.

“All right, all right.” He handed over one of the sabers.

TeenDoc, grinning wide, ignited it and observed its blue blade.

“Still be careful…” said Luke. “It’ll sting if you hit a body part.” He ignited the other, showing a green blade, naturally. “Come on. I’ll teach you some moves.”

Marty jogged over. “I want to try, too!”

Luke handed him the green saber. “Go ahead. This I gotta see.”

“Keep the burgers and hotdogs warm, Clark,” said AL. “This is gonna be a show.”
