Chapter Two: Incoming Guests of Honor

TrilogyDoc, Clara and Marty arrived in the early afternoon of Memorial Day. To AL’s surprise, TeenDoc was with them.

“He begged to come,” TrilogyDoc explained, to which AL nodded knowingly.

“Well,” said AL, “come on in and enjoy the AC, cuz we’ll be heading outside in a couple hours.”

TrilogyDoc and co. entered the house and proceeded to look around. TeenDoc dashed upstairs, probably heading for the game room, dragging Marty with him.

AL gave Clara and her husband a tour of the house, as this was the first time they’ve visited. She introduced them to Hooks, Erik and Luke, who were downstairs.

“Happy anniversary, Luke.” TrilogyDoc told the Jedi.

“And you. Welcome to the House of Insanity.” He dodged a paper ball AL threw at him.

“That’s Tommy’s line,” she said. “And shush.”

“Well, he’s not used to these things,” defended Luke. “He’s never around over in the Journal. I’m just giving him fair warning.”

TrilogyDoc and Clara laughed as AL glared at him. “Anyway…” she said, “the other guys are spread out between shopping or upstairs or outside.”

The lights flickered briefly.

“Yeah, that’s the Doctors.” AL said. “They’re trying to hook up the stereo outside.”

“Oh, dear,” said Clara as the lights flickered again. “It doesn’t seem like they’re having much luck.”

“Nah, as long as they don’t trip the breaker.”

“That’s the cue for the power to go out,” said Hooks.

“Don’t give them any ideas.”

“They can’t hear me.”

The house promptly went dark.

“Whoops…” said Hooks, blushing.

“Doctor!” shouted AL.

“Sorry!” came the voice of the Ninth Doctor from upstairs. “We’ll fix it! Hold on…”

There was a moment of silence, then the lights flicked back on.

“Thank you!” AL shouted, half-rolling her eyes, and turned to her guests. “Well, shall we continue the tour?”
