Chapter Ten: Resolutions

The Doctor was finally asleep and AL was asleep beside him, holding him protectively.

Tommy peeked in. “You’d never think she was so hot-headed when she’s asleep like that.”

Hooks, riding on his shoulder, nodded. “Only when she’s awake.” He giggled quietly.

Tommy chuckled and scratched Hooks’ neck, turned and left.

Luke suddenly came running. “Have you heard from Jamie?”

Tommy shook his head. “Not since Wednesday. Why?”

“I just got word that he was kidnapped by Flaming and was almost force-fed Listerine.”

Tommy winced. “Is he all right?”

Luke nodded. “He escaped, but K9 is looking for him.”

“Where is he?” asked Hooks.

Luke shrugged. “I don’t know.”

Tommy sighed. “This is really going too far.” He thought a moment, then called, “I wish for the Goblin King to appear, right now!”

Jareth poofed in and looked around. “Yes? Your ploy involving Lisa not work?”

“No,” said Tommy, “it did as best it could, but we have another problem.” He looked around. “Come on.” He led the group to the living room where Data was playing poker with Adam. “Data, Adam, there’s a problem.”

Adam looked at his card. “You bet there is. I’m losing to a bloody robot.”

“I am an android, not a robot.” Data tilted his head. “And I do not bleed.”

Adam tossed down his cards. “Fold.”

“Guys,” said Luke, “seriously. Jamie’s missing and RL and K9 are after him.”

“I told you if you guys went to that meeting she’d be on you like white on rice,” said Adam matter-of-factly.

“Jareth,” said Tommy, “we need to make sure the girls and K9 don’t get to Jamie before we do.”

“I see,” said His Highness. “This is where I come in, is it?”

“Yeah,” said Tommy. “Now, let’s see…how can I word this?” Jareth produced his crystal and Tommy cleared his throat. “I wish that neither Real Lisa, nor K9 or Flaming Trails will be able to find Jamie McCrimmon, no matter where he hides, until such a time as it is convenient for us guys.”

Jareth’s crystal levitated up and exploded in a shower of glitter. “Done. But why not just wish them to forget about the meeting in the first place?”

“Because of the mentions in the journals,” said Tommy. “I saw what happened with 5. It made her really suspicious by making her think some entries were in gibberish.”

“He has a point,” said Jareth.

“We’ll see how this works for now,” said Luke.

Over the course of the next couple of months, the Doctor slowly recovered – it turned out that Medicus had put a fail-safe in the illness he’d administered to leave the Doctor weakened for a little while – and no one could find Jamie. V was distracted with her stories, amongst other things, and RL had her own personal reasons for simply forgetting about the meeting.

AL and the guys continued their life on Alnilam, and she even gave up and asked for Jamie to be returned to them, as she didn’t care anymore. Jamie did come back, yet didn’t move in until the next year.

On the whole, all was normal on planet Alnilam.
