Chapter Eight: Phase Two

A little while later, Tommy was hanging up the phone. “Jamie’s going into hiding. RL’s after him.”

“Are you sure we shouldn’t’ve told her?” asked Adam.

Tommy waved his hands. “Never mind. Luke, what was your idea to get Lisa here?”

“Jareth,” he said simply.

“Huh?” asked Hooks.

“Jareth.” Luke said again. “We wish for Jareth to bring her here.”

“Then why not wish for her not to be mad in the first place?” asked Tommy.

“Because she’ll jump at the chance to fuss over one of us. And we already made the Doctor sick, so…”

Tommy murmured. “You have a point. So call him.”

“Right.” Luke cleared his throat. “I wish for the King of the Goblins to appear right now.”

Jareth, King of the Goblins and Lord of the Labyrinth, appeared in a shower of glitter, and blinked. “Yes, gentlemen?”

“We need your help,” said Tommy.

“About Lisa, I presume?”

Tommy, Luke, Hooks and Adam all nodded.

“You want me to stop her being angry?”

“Actually,” said Luke, “no. We just need you to get her here.”

Jareth raised an eyebrow and Tommy gestured with his head towards the Hall. “Go get him. Lisa’ll need to see him, anyway.”

Luke walked to the Hall and returned with a very ill Fifth Doctor in tow.

“He looks like Hell,” commented Jareth.

“…rather…like I feel…” said the Doctor weakly, lying on the couch.

Jareth nodded. “All right. I’ll help you.” He produced a crystal. “Just say the words.”

“Let the Doctor say it,” said Tommy. “Might make it more convincing.”

The Doctor murmured weakly. “…pardon?”

“You know.” Luke said. “The words so Jareth can bring Lisa here.”

The Doctor coughed and groaned. “…I…I wish…that Lisa…was here…now…” He coughed again.

“Good enough for me,” said Jareth, throwing his crystal. It erupted, showing glitter all over the rug.

AL appeared in the glitter. “What the f – ” Her voice died as she saw the Doctor, her eyes widening. She rushed to him and knelt at his side. “What happened?”

The Doctor’s only response was a cough.

“He’s sick,” said Tommy. “He needs you.”

The Doctor groaned pitifully and AL took his hand. “Okay…okay.” She started stroking his hair. “Hooks, go get Medicus. Woodhorn won’t hurt animals.”

Hooks, of course, was gone by “go”.

“Luke or one of you, help me get him to his room.”

“I will,” said Tommy.

The Doctor groaned as AL and Tommy attempted to help him off the couch. “…really…I-I’m fine…here…”

“No,” said AL. “Bed. Now. Let’s go.” She and Tommy helped him down the Hall.

“So far so good,” said Jareth. “Let me know how it turns out.” He puffed off.
