Trivia and In-Jokes
About the Story:
V wrote a
Christmas present story for me in which she and I exchange guys: OckDoc for
me since he’s my favorite of her characters, and the Tenth Doctor for her since
she has a slight crush on him. I was at a loss to what to write in exchange ’til
I got Ratatouille on DVD and watched it a couple dozen times. I decided
to bring Remy to the blog crew to cook (and the story of how AL met the rat will
come later).
Story:
121 degrees: An homage to 1.21 gigawatts (the correct spelling
if not pronunciation…).
Alton: Food Network chef Alton Brown used to say stuffing was evil ’til the episode “Stuff It” where he made it. I, like AL, don’t like stuffing, so we don’t care. Sorry, Alton.
Cornbread pudding: The dressing he made in the “Romancing the Bird” Good Eats Thanksgiving episode.
The fruitcake joke: From the Good Eats episode “It’s A Wonderful Cake” where Alton makes, yes, fruitcake.
The ratatouille prep: Came from the movie.
Duff: Duff Goldman from Ace of Cakes.
Profiteroles au chocolat: I found on Yahoo since I needed a hard to pronounce French dessert.
