Trivia and In-Jokes

About the Story:
I’ve always been a sucker for crying guys, and I was trying to find a way to put AL in Torchwood, so, I came up with the idea that, near the end of his life, the Doctor would ask her to go to Cardiff and reunite with Jack after either episode 5 or 10 (two episodes where he was crying, and 10 ended up being the winner) along with asking her to take the TARDIS somewhere safe. Chapter One originally had more than just the dialogue between the Doctor and AL, but I thought it’d have more of a “what’s going on?” feel if I took out the descriptions and I’d go into the detail later on in the story.

Chapter One:
Look after the universe for meI’ve put a lot of work into it…: This is a line from the Comic Relief Doctor Who special “Curse of the Fatal Death”. While the special sucked, I liked the line.

Chapter Two:
AL’s hard landing: In my original concept of AL, she would always crash when attempting an emergency landing. This is an homage of sorts to that first idea.

Chapter Four:
The dialogue between Jack and John: Is taken from Torchwood episode 10, “Out of Time”.

Epilogue:
AL thinking Tosh and Gwen look familiar: The woman who plays Tosh, Naoko Mori, was in the Doctor Who episode “Aliens of London” playing Dr. Sato. We assume it’s Tosh. And Gwen is played by Eve Myles, who played Gwyneth in the Doctor Who episode, “The Unquiet Dead”. We’re thinking Gwen and Gwyneth are related.

Something happening to the Torchwood staff: Let’s see…Owen, of course, lost Diane in “Out of Time”, Gwen nearly died when they brought Suzie back to life in “They Keep Killing Suzie”, Tosh had her own telepathy and alien friend in “Greeks Bearing Gifts”, and Ianto lost his girlfriend in “Cyberwoman”.

The staff grilling Gwen about Jack: Happened in “Everything Changes”.

Jack’s lost two years: Jack was, apparently, a Time Agent. While working for them, he woke up one morning and two years of his life were gone. He has no idea what happened to them, and neither do us fans, unfortunately. This info was told in Doctor Who, “The Doctor Dances”.

Rose resurrecting Jack: From Doctor Who, “The Parting of the Ways”.
