Chapter Three: Party!
When AL got the word that everything upstairs was ready, she went outside and to the side of the house the TARDIS was located.
She went inside the time machine and found Doctors 5, 8 and 9 either huddled around the console or with their heads stuck inside a roundel or buried in wires.
“Huh,” she quipped, “this looks familiar. Don’t tell me you’re still trying to fix the chameleon circuit.”
“No,” said Doc8, who had his head inside the roundel. Doc5 wasn’t about to do that again after last time. “We gave up on that a while ago. Remember the TARDIS’ state of grace?”
“When guns couldn’t be fired inside? Yeah, I do.”
“We’re trying to get that working again,” said Doc9.
“Well, come inside for a second. There’s something upstairs I need to show you.”
The three Doctors exchanged a look, shrugged and set down their tools. They followed AL inside the house and up the stairs inside the darkened game room. With a flick of her telekinetic powers, the lights came on and everyone jumped out of their hiding places.
“SURPRISE!”
“Happy anniversary, Doctors!” AL said, hugging and kissing all four of the Time Lords present.
“Oh, well done,” said Doc5, grinning, hugging her back.
“Thank you, Lisa,” said Doc8. “And everyone.”
“ ’ey let’s forget the pleasantries and let’s eat!” Doc9 said, heading for the pool-come-buffet table.
“Hit the jukebox, Verne,” AL said to the tentacle hovering beside the stereo.
Hit it? he asked.
“Turn it on.”
Oh. He clicked a switch and music was piped through the sound systems. Everyone danced and ate and drank and had a good time.
It was quite a memorable anniversary party. The Docs took home photographs and memories of the event and slices of TARDIS-shaped cake for everyone back home.
