Chapter Five: Surprises All Around

Right on time, at 5:16PM, Robert, Clark, Luke, Tommy, Adam and Gary left the house carrying trays of appetizers. They had changed into chef’s clothes and all of them looked very handsome. Knowing AL’s group, they’d made enough for everyone to have seconds and thirds.

AL jogged over to ClockworkDoc, who was standing alone munching on a deviled egg. Unable to resist, she said, “What’s up, Doc?”

He chuckled. “Nothing, Lisa,” he answered. “I’m just enjoying the evening air.”

“You look a little lonely. Why don’t you mingle? No one bites. Well, maybe Jack, but only if you want him to.”

Clockwork laughed. “No, it’s all right. It’s their party.”

“You could always hang with Tempest and Mistral.” She pointed to the two equines grazing by the TARDIS.

“I know and I most likely will. I’d like to speak with them more about weather control.”

“Well, I want you to enjoy yourself.”

“Perhaps…I may be of some assistance,” said a Scottish voice that wasn’t Jamie.

AL and Clockwork turned to find Erik walking from behind the house. This was the first she’d seen of him since yesterday.

“Hey, Erik,” said AL. “Where you been?”

The former Phantom shuffled nervously. This was more people than he was used to. Clearing his throat, he said, “When I heard you asking Dr. Brown to aid with the weather, I…thought…he would like someone to accompany him.”

Both the alien and the scientist looked confused, then Erik moved to the side and out stepped a young man with silky soft hair and clear blue eyes. It looked like Marty McFly, except that he looked a little taller than the Marty AL knew.

Beside her, Clockwork’s eyes went wide and AL grinned when she realized who it was: MuseicalMarty, Clockwork’s own Marty from his universe. The two of them only ever got to interact at the Inkwell.

Museical smiled, showing perfect teeth. “Hi, Doc.”

“I thought having him here would ensure you perfect weather.” Erik said, coming to stand beside AL, who put an arm around his waist.

“Erik,” she said, “you’re wonderful. And you’re off the hook for hanging out in public for a while.”

Clockwork and Museical hugged, then Doc shook Erik’s hand. “Thank you,” he said. “You have my gratitude and, Lisa, you certainly will have perfect weather.”

“Awesome,” she said and, noticing Robert and his group setting out the food on the buffet, she shouted, “Let’s eat!”
